The Commercial Real Estate Loan Syndications Associate will be responsible for supporting the middle market real estate leveraged lending business through the structuring and distribution of loans to institutional investors as a syndicate. The Associate will contribute meaningfully to the execution of the group’s strategic business plan through the marketing/closing of syndicated transactions in a manner which is consistent with, and supports the growth, profit, and asset quality objectives of CIBC. While, at the outset, the Associate will work under the direction of tenured team members, it is expected that the professional brings a skill set that allows for efficient transition to independent transaction management in an up-tempo environment.


Primary responsibilities include the following daily tasks:


  • Preparation of transaction marketing materials (i.e. bank books, teasers, etc.)
  • Transaction pipeline management in coordination with internal & external constituents
  • Review/quality control of underwriting and legal documentation;
  • Completion of internal syndication memorandums/opinions
  • Data administration (i.e. posting/distribution of transaction information)
  • Development/maintenance of relationships with prospective and existing co-lenders/investors
  • Collaborate with the Loan Syndications Coordinator to execute the syndication closing process
  • Maintain market knowledge and industry awareness, and effectively communicate knowledge to others within CIBC
  • Contribute to and maintain a positive work atmosphere in support Loan Syndications growth/development
  • Special projects, as required


Required skills include strong communication (written and oral), demonstrated analytical aptitude, problem solving capabilities and technical proficiency with standard industry platforms (SyndTrak experience preferred, Microsoft Office Suite required).  Minimum 4-6 years of direct commercial real estate finance experience and college degree are required. Syndications experience is preferred but not required.
