    Responsibilities

    The Group Head’s (GH) primary purpose is to be externally focused to drive new client acquisition and ensuring the objectives related to growth, core deposits, profitability, risk, service and, eventually, team development are met.

     

    The Commercial Group Head will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities.

    Primary responsibilities for this position will be that of new strategic relationship acquisition.

     

    • Responsible and accountable for new strategic relationship acquisition and resulting new business generation. Prioritize externally facing new business development efforts.
    • Execute strategies for profitable growth of deposits, loans, fees as well as selling bank products and services.
    • Active development and communication of CRM (Client Relationship Management) strategy to drive prospecting and relationship growth for Group. Participate in and oversee the execution of the CRM strategy including direct calling and networking.
    • Responsible for business planning and budgeting of Group. Responsible for P&L management.
    • Monitor the Group’s assets by maintaining quality of portfolio by adhering to lending processes, credit policies and underwriting standards.
    • Active participation in the career development and coaching of the Group as a whole. Seek and support advancement of team in a way that meets each individual’s goals and skill set.
    • Eventually hire a team able to support the Group's growth and financial objectives.
    • Manage the strategic prioritization of the pipeline to achieve Secondary Line of Business and LOB goals.
    • Maintain and develop strong relationship with internal departments (i.e. Credit, Loan Services, cross-sell partners)
    • Provide insight to the Business Manager for portfolio reviews.
    • Uphold active market presence within the community and industry associations with the purpose of promoting CIBC USA and cultivating potential prospects and referral sources.      

     

    Qualifications

    • Recognized management and interpersonal skills
    • College Degree / Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Real Estate
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technology platforms
    • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience as a Commercial Relationship Manager or other commercial banking role.
    • Ability to prove expertise within Commercial Real Estate lending and structuring
    • Desire to actively market both CIBC and its products to potential clients
    • Formal Credit Training preferred
